Tripura / Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb resigns, election of new leader of legislature party today

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb resigned on Saturday. He was leading the BJP, Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) government for four years. The reason for the resignation is not yet clear. Biplab Deb has tendered his resignation to the Governor.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb resigned on Saturday. He was leading the BJP, Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) government for four years. The reason for the resignation is not yet clear. Biplab Deb has tendered his resignation to the Governor.


Assembly elections are due in the state after eight months. Actually BJP has decided to change the leadership in Tripura. It has been considered a big decision in the state before 2023. Biplab Deb had met Union Minister Amit Shah only yesterday. In the meeting he was asked to step down. Biplab Deb said that preparations have to be made for the 2023 elections in the state. The order of the party is paramount.


Trinamool Congress has taken a dig at Biplab Kumar Deb's resignation. Trinamool Congress tweeted saying, Biplab Kumar Deb has failed to live up to the aspirations of the people. He has already done a lot of damage. This is the reason why the top leadership of his party also got upset with his inaction. It is also being said that the BJP leadership has become uneasy with the TMC's growing influence in Tripura.
