Thiruvananthapuram. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said his government will not implement the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the state. Speaking at the conclusion of an event organized to mark the first anniversary of his government, he said, "The government's stand on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) is clear and it will stand." CM Vijayan said, "Our country is in the Constitution of India." Works on the principle of secularism as stated. Nowadays, efforts are on to destroy it. In a recent incident, some people were deciding the criteria of citizenship on the basis of religion. His government has taken a strong stand against this incident.
In his address, the Chief Minister also said that some people are conducting surveys in different parts of the country to create communal tension. But our government has completed a survey to identify the poorest families of the society. Now further steps will be taken for their development. Let us inform that last month in Siliguri, West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that this law will be implemented after the corona epidemic is over. He had said on his Bengal tour that the opposition parties were spreading false rumors about CAA.
What is Citizenship (Amendment) Act?The Citizenship (Amendment) Act was passed by the Central Government in the Parliament in the year 2019. The purpose of this bill is to give Indian citizenship to refugees from 6 communities (Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Jain, Buddhist and Parsi) who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Many political parties are opposing it for not including the Muslim community in these 6 communities. Any person who is a citizen of India shall not lose his citizenship after it comes into force. When this amendment law was passed in Parliament three years ago, there was a strong reaction and protest in the whole country.
