The companies that make Corona Vaccine Covishield and Covaxin on Saturday announced to reduce their prices. Now in private hospitals, a dose of both these vaccines will cost Rs 225. Earlier, in private hospitals, a dose of Covishield was available for Rs 600 and Covaxin for Rs 1,200.

Poonawalla said that his company would charge Rs 225 for a dose in private hospitals instead of Rs 600.
On the other hand, Suchitra Alla, the joint MD of Bharat Biotech, the company that makes the vaccine, has also announced in a tweet to reduce the price of the vaccine from Rs 1200 to Rs 225.
Now how much will it cost to get the preparation dose?The government will not bear the cost of preparation dose for people above 18 years of age. For this, you will have to pay according to the cost of the vaccine at private centers. The government has fixed the cost of CoveShield at Rs 780, Covaxin at Rs 1,410 and Sputnik V at Rs 1,145 at private centres, but after today's announcement, CoveShield and Covaxin will be available at Rs 225-225 only. It is not yet clear whether private centers will be able to charge any charges for applying the vaccine on top of this.
