Mahakumbh 2025: Today is a historic day in the ongoing Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Today is the first day of Amrit Snan, which is considered extremely important for the devotees. There is a rush of devotees on the banks of Sangam and till 12 o'clock, more than 1 crore 60 lakh devotees have taken a holy bath. According to the information, today about 3.50 crore people have taken a dip in the Sangam to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the saints of the akhadas also took Amrit Snan. Especially the sadhus of Shri Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani and Shri Shambhu Panchayati Atal Akhara started this holy bath. This day is especially important as it comes a day after Paush Purnima, when the first big bath took place in the Sangam area. The Amrit Snan event will continue till evening, and devotees will take a dip in the Triveni Sangam to earn merit on this occasion. The Maha Kumbh Mela attracts millions of devotees every year, and its main attraction is considered to be Amrit Snan. According to religious beliefs, when the gods and demons were fighting each other to protect the Amrit Kalash from the churning of the ocean, four drops of Amrit fell at four places—Prayagraj, Ujjain, Haridwar and Nashik. Maha Kumbh Mela is organized at these places every year. According to this tradition, during Amrit Snan, Naga Sadhus get the opportunity to bathe first, as they are considered followers of Bhole Baba. This tradition has been going on for hundreds of years and Naga Sadhus get the first right to this bath.CM Yogi Adityanath extended his best wishes on this occasion and said, "This is a living form of our Sanatan culture and faith. Today, on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, the great festival of folk faith, Maha Kumbh-2025, congratulations to all the devotees who earned virtue by taking the first Amrit Snan at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj!"This religious significance of Amrit Snan and Maha Kumbh Mela has become a symbol of devotion and faith not only in India but in the entire world.
