Saudi Arabia: According to a report, since Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman came to power in Saudi Arabia, the death penalty has almost doubled. Activist groups say the crown prince's political opponents are paying a heavy price for 'change' in the form of outright repression and zero tolerance for dissent. Bin Salman has given extraordinary powers to the country's business houses, industrialists and wealthy families. Indeed, bin Salman tries to present his image to the world as a reformist and ruler who emphasizes individual freedom as well as modernization. Despite this, instead of reducing the death penalty among Muslims, it has increased. Last year, the number of people sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia was twice that of 2021.so many people were hangedIn the past six years, when bin Salman led the country, there have been more deaths on government orders than in any other year in recent history. Between 2015 and 2022, an average of 129 were hanged every year. This figure shows an increase of 82 per cent from the period 2010-14. Last year 147 people had died. Of those, 90 were crimes that were considered non-violent.so many people were beheadedOn March 12 last year, 81 people were given death sentence. This was the largest number of death sentences ever carried out. Apart from hanging in Saudi Arabia, people are also put to death by beheading. Often such brutality does not come in front of the world because there is no independent media in the Arab country. Saudi Arabia is considered to have one of the highest death penalty countries in the region.
