IPL 2022 / Despite defeat, Lucknow is ahead of KKR, CSK, RCB and Mumbai

The fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was played on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. For the first time this match was played between two franchise teams participating in IPL. Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans opened the account with a five-wicket win over KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants.

With this win, Gujarat Titans have moved up to the fourth position in the points table. On the other hand, on the basis of better net run rate, Lucknow Super Giants are ahead of Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Talking about the match, Gujarat Titans won the toss and invited Lucknow Super Giants to bat first. Lucknow Super Giants scored 158 for six in 20 overs. Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni scored 55 and 54 respectively, while Mohammed Shami took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs. In reply, Gujarat Titans won the match by scoring 161 runs for the loss of five wickets in 19.4 overs. Rahul Tewatia played an innings of 40 not out. Shami was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant bowling.
