About Rs 26000 crore will be spent on this project. This information was given by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech. With the announcement in the budget speech, the way has been cleared for the construction of expressways for the first time in the state.

Center's focus on Bihar

The Modi government formed with the support of JDU led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had made it clear in the swearing-in itself that the central government is going to focus on Bihar this time by making eight MPs from Bihar including Lalan Singh, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai ministers. Now, in the first budget itself, the Center has showered gifts for Bihar. While reading her budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sita Raman said that work is already going on on the DPR of 521 km Gorakhpur to Siliguri via Kishanganj and 719 km Raxaul-Haldia Expressway.

Two expressways in Bharatmala project too

He told that the project of these two expressways included in the Bharatmala project of the Central Government was prepared a long time ago, but due to some reason the work on it could not start. According to the Finance Minister, the DPR of these two projects has been summoned from the Road Transport Department by taking out the buried files. Efforts are being made to start work on 100-100 km patches of these two expressways in the current financial year itself. According to the Finance Minister, the Central Government is working under Vision 2047. For this, a target has been set to start the construction work of roads rapidly and complete it in a timely manner.

These districts will also be connected by the expressway

According to the Finance Minister, the Gorakhpur to Siliguri expressway being built under the Bharatmala project will start from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and will end in Siliguri in West Bengal via East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jamui and Banka districts of Bihar. The big thing is that the Gorakhpur-Panipat expressway will be connected to this expressway. This will provide direct connectivity not only to Bihar but also to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana from West Bengal.
