Atiq Ahmed Murder: There has been a stir after the murder of mafia don Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf in police custody. The assailants shot him dead in Prayagraj on Saturday. Police has arrested three people. It has been claimed in the media report that the three have said in their alleged statement to the police that Atiq had a connection with Pakistan. He and his gang had killed many innocents. He used to kill to grab the land and did not even spare the witnesses.

First murder case registered in 1979

Atiq's criminal record is old. There are more than 100 cases registered against him. The first case of murder was registered in 1979 when he was a minor. In 1992, the Allahabad Police had told that 4 dozen cases had been registered related to Atiq's murder and other crimes.

Raju Pal's case was the most talked about in the allegations of murder against Atiq. On 25 January 2005, Raju Pal, newly elected MLA from Allahabad West Assembly seat, was in the old part of the city, Sulemasarai. Then the attack happened. Raju Pal was hit by 19 bullets and doctors declared him brought dead when he was taken to the hospital.

Raju was married to Pooja Pal 10 days before the incident. Raju was a BSP MLA, but there was a SP government in the state. Raju's wife Pooja filed a case accusing the then SP MP Atiq, brother Ashraf, Farhan and Abid of murder along with many others.

Atiq is accused of killing how many people?

At the time when Atiq was a minor, there was a fear of mafia don Chand Baba in Allahabad, but Atiq was trying to get ahead of him. In 1989, Atiq and Chand Baba contested from Allahabad West seat. Chand Baba was defeated in the election and Atiq occupied the seat. Chand Baba was killed within a few days of this victory. Atiq's name directly surfaced in the murder. It was from here that Atiq's era of terror started. After this, Atiq got the gang members of Chand Baba killed one by one.

The murder cases were not limited to this. Atiq was also accused of killing Nasson in 2002, and in 2004 of killing party leader Ashraf, who was said to be close to BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. According to media reports, Atiq and his brother Ashraf conspired to kill Umesh Pal in jail.

On February 24, 2023, Atiq was made the main accused in the murder of Umesh Pal in broad daylight. Umesh Pal was a witness in the Raju Pal murder case. The whole matter was with the CBI. Atiq was already serving a sentence for kidnapping Umesh Pal.
