The US National Hurricane Center has placed it in Category 5, which is one of the most destructive storms. Storms of this category are likely to cause heavy loss of life and property. Hurricane Milton may hit Tampa Bay in Florida on Wednesday, due to which the local administration has made extensive security arrangements.

Emergency situation in Florida

In view of the severity of Hurricane Milton, more than 10 lakh people from the Tampa Bay area have been ordered to move to safer places. After this order, heavy traffic jams were seen on the roads and a situation of fuel shortage arose in many places. Coastal areas are being evacuated in view of the threat of floods and strong winds in the coastal areas of Florida. So far, about 5 lakh people have been evacuated to safer places.

Possibility of devastation in coastal areas

According to the National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Milton is likely to cause 10 to 15 feet high waves in the coastal areas north and south of Tampa Bay. Along with this, there may be about 254 mm or more of rain, which also poses a risk of flooding. The speed of the storm was 285 kilometers per hour till Tuesday, which makes it more dangerous.

Air traffic affected

Air traffic has also been severely affected due to the storm. About 900 flights have been delayed in domestic and international flights and more than 1500 flights have been canceled. This situation may get more serious for Wednesday, as the impact of the storm poses a threat of strong winds and heavy rains in Florida and surrounding areas.

Biden's response

In view of the severity of the storm, US President Joe Biden has postponed his visit to Germany and Angola. He has appealed to the residents of Florida to immediately move to safer places. Biden said that Hurricane Milton could be the most severe hurricane to hit Florida in more than a century. He has directed the administration to make full preparations for disaster management and has appealed to the citizens to remain alert.

Before Hurricane Milton, Hurricane Helen also caused heavy devastation in America, killing more than 225 people.
