CHENNAI: Hypertension, known as the silent killer, is not only slowly killing people but also making them unable to bear children. This report has been given by the Family Planning Association of India (FPA India).

No symptoms of hypertension

The webinar was organized by the organization on the completion of 72 years of FPA India. In which the health expert said that there is no symptom of hypertension when seen externally. A person suffering from this disease looks normal when seen from a distance but inside he keeps suffocating. He is unable to tell his disappointment to anyone and gradually gets caught in the quagmire of this disease.

Experts related to family planning said in the webinar that the corona period has increased the outbreak of this disease. The fear of job loss, the worry of being caught by illness and the problems in raising a family have made people more worried than ever. Due to which they are becoming victims of hypertension in an unwanted way.

affect the ability to have children

FPA President Dr Ratnamala Desai says that to bring down the cases of hypertension, the government should promote the organization of regular health check-up camps in the country. Men and women of 35 to 65 years of age should be specially invited in these events. Actually, this is the age of reproductive health. If people in this age group become a victim of hypertension once and if they are not treated in time, then they can lose the ability to have children.

Doctor Sonu Goel at Chandigarh PGI says that a study was done in India for women aged 15 to 49 years. In which it was found that one out of every 5 women is suffering from this disease. Surprisingly, these women are not even aware that they have become ill. That's why they do not even get any treatment for this disease. This is also affecting their personal life and ability to have children.

More than 10 crore people suffer in the country

Hypertension is commonly called the problem of high blood pressure or high BP. The population of about 10 crore 13 lakhs of the country is facing this problem. This disease is a major cause of accidental deaths. Statistics say that about 30 percent of adults in India are currently suffering from hypertension and are getting their treatment. At the same time, more people than this number do not even know about their condition.

According to the report, every year more than 17.7 crore 70 lakh people die due to CVD in the world. WHO estimates that about 20 percent of these deaths i.e. 3.6 million people die in India alone. The reason for this is that people do not have awareness about hypertension. Due to this, lakhs of people suffering from this disease are not able to be detected and their treatment cannot be started in time. Due to which the danger to their life increases every moment.

Government of India started awareness campaign

The Government of India wants to bring down the rate of hypertension in the country from 30 to 25 percent. For this, a target has been set by 2025. For this, the government will have to speed up the arrangements for better treatment of 45 crore people suffering from this disease in the next four years. According to experts, cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the biggest contributor to most of the deaths in the world.
