The BCCI has left the final decision to the Indian government. But Pakistan is making every effort to get the Champions Trophy held here. The Pakistan Cricket Board has sent the draft schedule of the Champions Trophy to the ICC. According to that, all the matches of India are to be held in Lahore. There was no discussion on the Champions Trophy even in the annual meeting of the ICC held in Colombo. But now the ICC has announced the budget for the Champions Trophy.

ICC approves budget

The ICC has approved a budget of around $70 million for organizing the Champions Trophy to be held next year. A source close to the ICC said that the ICC's Finance and Commerce Committee, headed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah, approved the budget. The source said that the estimated budget is around $70 million and only $4.5 million has been allocated for additional expenses. There was a lot of speculation in the last ICC meeting about the total budget and the additional expenditure amount that would be kept as a backup fund if the Indian team does not come to Pakistan. The source said that $4.5 million is very less for this.

PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi gave advice

Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi has advised his office and fellow colleagues not to make any statement related to India's decision to send its team for the Champions Trophy. According to information gathered by PTI, the PCB chief has adopted a policy for himself and other officials on this issue that there should be no comment on it and let the ICC handle it. A PCB source said that is why in recent times there has been no comment or statement from Naqvi or any other board official about what will happen if India does not send its team to Pakistan.

The Indian team has not gone to Pakistan since 2008

Whenever there is a cricket match between India and Pakistan, the fans of both the countries get very excited. Because cricket is popular in both the countries. The Indian cricket team last visited Pakistan in the year 2008. Since then the Indian team has not visited Pakistan. Now India and Pakistan are seen playing only in ICC tournaments and Asia Cup. There is no bilateral series between the two countries.
