In the reply innings, South African team could score 169 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets. Jaspreet Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh took 2-2 wickets. Heinrich Klaasen scored 52 runs in 27 balls, while De Kock played an innings of 39 runs in 31 balls. Tristan Stubbs contributed 31 runs in 21 balls and Miller contributed 21 runs in 17 balls.

India scored 176/7 in 20 overs

India scored 176 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs thanks to Virat Kohli's 76 and Axar Patel's stormy innings of 47 runs. Now the responsibility is on the bowlers. Team India, who won the toss and came out to bat first, got off to a strong start. Virat Kohli hit three fours against Marco Jansen in the first over of the innings and took the score to 15 runs. In the second over, Rohit Sharma also hit two fours against Keshav Maharaj in the second over of the innings. However, he was caught out by Klaasen on the fourth ball.

The captain returned to the pavilion after scoring nine runs in five balls. The team got the second blow on the score of 23 runs. Maharaj also got Rishabh Pant, who came to bat at number three in this over, caught out by Quinton de Kock. He returned to the pavilion without opening the account. Suryakumar Yadav also could not show anything special in this match. He could score only three runs. Rabada got him caught by Klaasen. There was a partnership of 72 runs between the two for the fourth wicket. In this match, Axar was dismissed after scoring 47 runs in 31 balls. He was run out by De Kock in the 14th over. After this, Shivam Dubey, who came to bat at number six, also supported Kohli and took India's score beyond 160. In this match, King Kohli completed his half-century in 48 balls. This is the first fifty from his bat in the T20 World Cup 2024. He returned to the pavilion after playing an important innings of 76 runs in 59 balls. He was caught out by Marco Jansen off Rabada in the 19th over. Kohli shared a 57-run partnership in 33 balls for the fifth wicket with Dubey. The team suffered the sixth blow in the form of Shivam Dubey who managed to score 27 runs. The seventh wicket fell in the form of Ravindra Jadeja. Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten after scoring five runs. For South Africa, Maharaj and Nortje took two wickets each while Jansen and Rabada got one wicket each.
