Pahalgam Terror Attack / India takes another action against Pakistan, X account suspended

India suspended the official X account of the Pakistan government after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This step was taken after the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty and the expulsion of Pakistani diplomatic staff. India expelled military advisers from the Pakistani High Commission.

Pahalgam Terror Attack: Following the terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir on 23 April 2025, India has taken several diplomatic and security steps against Pakistan. The attack killed 26 people, including 25 Indian nationals and 1 Nepali national. These steps have been taken by India in the context of Pakistan's alleged involvement, which has further escalated tensions between the two countries.

The Indian government has suspended Pakistan's official Twitter account, now called X. The decision was taken in view of the increasing action against Pakistan-linked terrorist organizations by the Indian security forces and the increasing activities of terrorism in Kashmir. The move has been taken especially after the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty and the expulsion of senior diplomatic staff of Pakistan.

Series of diplomatic moves by India

India has taken several important decisions so far against Pakistan:

Reduction in number of Pakistani High Commission personnel: India has reduced the number of personnel in the Pakistan High Commission from 55 to 30, as well as expelled all defence, naval and air advisers. These have been declared persona non grata and have been directed to leave India within a week. Similarly, India is recalling its military advisers from its High Commission in Islamabad.

Suspension of Visa Scheme: India has suspended the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for citizens of Pakistan. All existing visas issued to Pakistan citizens have been cancelled with immediate effect.

Closure of Attari Check Post: India has ordered the immediate closure of the Integrated Check Post located at Attari, the only active land border crossing between India and Pakistan. However, Pakistani citizens who have entered India have been allowed to return till May 1, 2025.

Pakistan's possible response

After these steps taken by India, Pakistan has decided to hold a high-level security meeting to prepare its response. According to information given by Pakistan Radio, this meeting will be attended by the three army chiefs and important ministers of Pakistan. Pakistan is currently considering India's decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty and reduce diplomatic relations.
