Cricket / India whitewash New Zealand, become first team to win a 5-match T20I series 5-0

India defeated New Zealand in the fifth T20I to become the first team in history to complete a 5-0 series whitewash in T20I cricket. This is the first time that India have won a T20I series in New Zealand after having lost 1-2 in 2019 and 2-0 in 2009. It is also India's fourth straight T20I series victory.

New Zealand lost three early wickets in the powerplay and they were gasping for breath when Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert got together to put on a stunning partnership for the fourth wicket. They plundered 34 runs off a Shivam Dube over and looked to be in command.

Seifert departed after a sparkling 50 and then the collapse started. From 116/3 they were reduced to 156 for 9 and eventually fell 7 runs short. The Indian bowlers were brilliant in the second phase of the innings and bagged a historic 5-0 series whitewash. Jasprit Bumrah led this charge and ended with the man of the match award.
