The Meteorological Department has warned of further increase in winter in the coming days. With the drop in temperature, the situation of rain, hail and fog will persist in many states.

Snowfall continues in hilly areas

Snowfall continues in hilly states like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The temperature in these areas has reached below zero. Traffic on the roads is being disrupted due to snowfall and the local administration has advised people to be alert.

Traffic affected by dense fog

Dense fog is looming over entire North India including Delhi-NCR. Due to fog, road, rail and air traffic have been affected extensively. Many trains are running late by hours, due to which passengers are facing severe cold at the stations. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR and has predicted the fog conditions to persist for the next few days.

Which areas will have dense fog?

According to the Meteorological Department, dense to very dense fog is likely in parts of the capital Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on January 12 and 13. The effect of fog will also be seen in Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Assam and Meghalaya. The fog will be more dense in these areas during the morning and night hours.

Possibility of hailstorm and thunderstorm

The Meteorological Department has also predicted the possibility of hailstorm and thunderstorm in many states. There is a possibility of lightning and hail in some areas of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Western Madhya Pradesh. There may be sporadic hailstorms in Western Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The mercury will fall, the cold will increase further

The Meteorological Department has predicted a drop in temperature in the next few days. The minimum temperature in North-West India will drop by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are also likely to fall gradually in Central India. At the same time, there will be no significant change in temperature in the next 24 hours in East India, but after this the temperature may increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.

The administration has appealed to the people to go out of the house only when necessary and take special care while driving during fog. Also, it has been advised to take special care of the elderly and children. The local administration has also said that the risk of diseases has increased due to cold, so everyone is being advised to wear warm clothes and stay indoors.
