Virat Kohli News: Before the start of IPL 2025, Indian cricket team's veteran batsman Virat Kohli has expressed displeasure over the new travel policy rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). While joining Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 15, he openly expressed his opinion on this subject.

Virat's statement at 'Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit'

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) organized the 'Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit' at the Padukone-Dravid Center for Sports Excellence on March 15. On this occasion, Virat Kohli said that the rule of keeping the players' families away during the series is unfair. He stressed that it is wrong to blame the family for poor performance, rather their support is beneficial for the players.

Why is the presence of family important?

Expressing his disappointment over this rule, Kohli said, "It is very difficult to explain to people how important it is to return to the family whenever something serious happens on the field. I don't think people understand how important this is. That's why I am very disappointed because those who do not have control over the game are targeted."

Family is helpful in improving performance

Kohli said that staying with their family helps players maintain mental balance. He said, "If you ask any player if you want your family to always be around you? Then he will say yes. I don't want to sit alone in my room and be sad. I want to be normal and then you can see your game as a responsibility. You fulfill that responsibility and then return to normal life."

What is the new rule of BCCI?

The Indian team had to face defeat against New Zealand in the home Test series last year. The performance of the Indian team, which won two consecutive series in Australia, was also disappointing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After this, the BCCI implemented a strict travel policy to limit the travel of the players' families.

According to the new rule, during foreign tours, players' partners and children can come only once in every series for up to two weeks. This came as a big shock to senior players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, because earlier there was no such restriction.

Will BCCI's decision change?

After a senior player like Kohli raised this issue, it will be interesting to see whether BCCI reconsiders its decision or not. Keeping in mind the impact of family presence on the mental well-being and performance of players, this issue may heat up further. Now it remains to be seen what is the response of BCCI on this.
