The match was played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, where Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl first. Lucknow posted a challenging score of 203 runs for the loss of eight wickets, chasing which Mumbai Indians could only score 191 runs.

Lucknow's strong batting

Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram hit brilliant half-centuries for Lucknow Super Giants. Mitchell Marsh batted aggressively during the powerplay and scored 60 runs in 31 balls with the help of nine fours and two sixes. He was dismissed by Vignesh Puthur to give Mumbai their first big success.

After this, Lucknow suffered two more setbacks when captain Rishabh Pant was dismissed for just 2 runs and Nicholas Pooran could also score only 12 runs. However, Aiden Markram scored 53 runs off 38 balls with the help of two fours and four sixes and took charge of the team.

In the end, Ayush Badoni scored 30 runs off 19 balls and David Miller scored 27 runs off 14 balls to take Lucknow's score beyond 200. For Mumbai, captain Hardik Pandya bowled brilliantly and took five wickets for 36 runs in four overs. Apart from this, Trent Boult, Ashwini Kumar and Vignesh Puthur took one wicket each.

Mumbai's unsuccessful run chase

Chasing the target of 204 runs, Mumbai Indians did not have a good start. The openers returned to the pavilion early, but Suryakumar Yadav played a brilliant innings of 67 runs off 43 balls with the help of nine fours and a six. Apart from him, Naman Dheer scored 46 runs.

Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya scored 28 runs and also performed well in bowling, but he failed to lead his team to victory. Mumbai needed 22 runs in the last over, but they could not achieve it and could only reach 191 runs after losing five wickets.

The bowlers of Lucknow Super Giants performed brilliantly under pressure. Four bowlers got one wicket each, due to which the Mumbai team failed to achieve the big target. Lucknow bowlers took wickets at regular intervals and Mumbai had to face defeat by 12 runs.

With this win, Lucknow Super Giants have strengthened their position in IPL 2025, while Mumbai Indians will need to improve their performance.
