Odisha | A mother killed her three-year-old son, who was becoming a 'hindrance in the relationship' with her lover. The case is of Kendrapara district of Odisha. The police here on Monday arrested a 35-year-old woman and her lover. The woman is accused of killing her 3-year-old son because she considered him a hindrance in their relationship. Police in Kendrapara said that they have arrested Sasmita Nath of Matiyapada village and her lover Laxmidhar Bai of Gupteera village. Actually Sasmita married Sukanta Nath. They had three children - two sons and a daughter. Police said Sukant had left Odisha to work in Bengaluru a few years back. His wife and children were left in Odisha.Pattamundai police station inspector Tapan Kumar Raut said, "She (the woman) then came to Pattamundai town, rented a house for the education of her children. Here she met a local youth named Lakshmidhar Bai. The young man took care of the woman's children. Provided private tuition. The woman and the young man grew closer. Both wanted to get married. After which Sasmita left her eldest daughter and son at her native place in Duhidipur village. However, the 3-year-old son was proving to be a hindrance. There used to be frequent quarrels between them about this matter. On Saturday, the woman allegedly took her 3-year-old son to the terrace and stabbed him to death. She then took the body to a local hospital, where doctors declared it 'brought dead'. However, on Sunday, she filed a complaint against her boyfriend that he had killed her son.After registering the FIR, she accompanied her boyfriend to her parents where her two children recognized Lakshmidhar and told everything about their mother's relationship to their grandparents. When his parents asked him about his 3-year-old son, he did not respond, expressing doubts. Her two children then told their grandparents how Lakshmidhar used to beat them mercilessly during tuitions. After this, the woman's parents took both of them into custody and handed them over to the police. "Both have confessed to their role in the murder. They have been arrested," the inspector said.
