India-Pakistan News: After the painful terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, tensions between India and Pakistan have once again reached their peak. The direct impact of this tension is being seen on the borders, where incidents of ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Army are being reported continuously.

The Indian Army said on Tuesday that on the night of 28-29 April, Pakistan fired with small arms without any provocation on the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara, Baramulla and Akhnoor sectors. Indian soldiers gave a befitting reply to this provocation and kept the situation under control.

Pakistan's continuous provocative action

This series is not new. Earlier on the night of 27-28 April, similar firing was done in the border areas of Kupwara and Poonch districts. The Indian Army had given a disciplined and effective response at that time too. Officials said in a statement that this is the deadliest terrorist attack after the Pulwama attack, which has brought deep sourness in relations between the two countries.

It is worth noting that India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire agreement in February 2021, after which there was relative peace on the border. But recent attacks have raised serious questions about the stability of this agreement.

Havoc on innocents in Pahalgam

On April 22, there was an uproar in Pahalgam, a famous tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, when 26 innocent people celebrating holidays were shot dead by terrorists. The dead included 25 Indians and 1 Nepali citizen. Investigation revealed that the attackers targeted the victims after knowing their religious identity. Indian intelligence agencies have blamed terrorists associated with Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba for this horrific attack.

India's tough stand

After this terrorist incident, India has announced to take several tough steps against Pakistan. These include considering suspending the Indus Water Treaty and various diplomatic actions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said in clear words that a befitting reply will be given to the terrorists and their patrons.

Apart from this, India has also closed the Attari-Wagah border indefinitely. This step shows the seriousness of the tension between the two countries.

Future path

Experts believe that the Pahalgam attack can bring a decisive turn in India's security policy. Vigilance has been increased on the borders and intelligence agencies have been instructed to keep a close watch on every activity of the terrorists. In the coming days, India will decide its future strategy while assessing its diplomatic and military options.
