A very peculiar arrangement has continued in the Swiss army. According to the current arrangement of the Swiss Army, men as well as women had to wear gents' underwear. However, this system is going to change now. According to local media reports, this may increase the participation of women in the army significantly.
Swiss Army spokesman Kaj Gunner Sievert said in a conversation with Swiss news website Watson that the clothes and some items available by the military are completely past. These are outdated and we need to change according to the modern era. He said that earlier the uniforms and equipment of the army were not according to the facilities of the women soldiers and we have taken some important steps in this matter.Sievert said that short underwear will be arranged for women in summer and long underwear for winter. Apart from this, efforts are also being made to improve Combat Clothing, Protective Waste and Backpack. He said that our entire focus would be on fit and functional uniforms.Switzerland's Defense Minister Viola Amherd also welcomed the move, while Swiss National Council member Marianne Binder said the move would encourage women to join the military. As reported by Swiss Info, the Swiss Army uniform had been in operation since the 80s.Trial of this scheme is going to start next month. Significantly, the participation of women in the Swiss Army is only 1 percent. However, in the army, women have to do all the work like men. The defense chief of the Swiss Army expects that after this decision, women's participation in the Swiss Army will increase to 10 percent by 2030.
