A Philippine Air Force C-130 plane crashed in the southern province after failing to land on the runway. Military personnel were on board these aircraft and all 40 jawans have been rescued. Chief of Staff General Sirilito Sobejan gave this information, but he did not say how many people were on the plane and whether anyone died in the accident. The plane crashed in a village in the mountain town of Patikul in Sulu province.

Sobejana said the plane was carrying military forces from the southern city of Cagayan de Oro. Government forces have been fighting for decades against Abu Sayyaf militants in the Muslim-majority province of Sulu. At least 40 people on board the plane were taken to hospital and military forces were trying to rescue the rest, he said.

"It is very unfortunate," Sobejana told reporters. The plane did not land on the runway. The pilot tried to control him again, but he could not do so and the plane crashed.
