Uttarakhand / Protem Speaker administered oath to all newly elected MLAs except Tilak Raj Behad, Ritu Khanduri and Maharaj took oath in Sanskrit, Kishore took oath in Garhwali

Pro tem speaker Banshidhar Bhagat administered the oath to the newly elected MLAs of the fifth assembly of Uttarakhand except Tilak Raj Behad of Congress. Newly elected MLA Anupama Rawat was the first to take oath. Tilak Raj Behad could not reach the swearing-in ceremony due to some reason.

MLA Ritu Khanduri and Maharaj took oath in Sanskrit and Kishore Upadhyay in Garhwali. Earlier, Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Seni) had administered the oath of pro tem speaker to Banshidhar Bhagat. In the assembly elections this time 47 candidates of BJP, 19 of Congress, two from BSP and two independent candidates have won the elections. After taking oath, the Speaker will be elected by the members.


After the oath of pro tem speaker and newly elected MLAs for the fifth assembly of Uttarakhand, all eyes are now on the legislature party meeting to be held in the evening. Whose head will be crowned as the Chief Minister, it will be decided in the meeting of the BJP Legislature Board, which is going to be held this evening. In the meeting, the name of the Chief Minister will be announced by the Union Observer and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The suspense going on for several days in the BJP, which has won two-thirds majority in the assembly elections, will end today. A meeting of the Legislature Board will be held in the BJP state office at 4.30 pm. In which according to the decision of the party high command, the name of the Chief Minister will be announced. Although whose head will adorn the crown, the suspense remains intact.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, state in-charge Dushyant Gautam will reach Dehradun on Monday afternoon to attend the meeting. Apart from this, all the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha MPs and newly elected MLAs of the state including election in-charge Prahlad Joshi will participate in the meeting.
