Puducherry / Puducherry enforces compulsory COVID-19 vaccination with immediate effect

The government of Puducherry has made COVID-19 vaccination compulsory in the Union Territory with immediate effect. People violating the new directive will be liable for penal action, as per the provisions of the law. The order, which was issued on Saturday by Puducherry State Health Mission Director Dr G Sriramulu, comes amid concerns over the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

Puducherry: The Government of Puducherry has made Covid-19 vaccination compulsory in the Union Territory with immediate effect.

Director of Medical Services (DMS) Dr Sriramalu in an order on Saturday said in exercise of the powers vested on him as per section 8 and as per provision of section 54 (1) of Puducherry Public Health Act, 1973, he enforces compulsory vaccination against Covid-19 in the Union Territory with immediate effect.

Those violating this will be liable for penal action, as per the provisions of the law, he added.
