IPL 2025 / Rajasthan Royals deliberately lost to Lucknow! Big accusation on Rahul Dravid's team

After the 2-run defeat to Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals have been accused of match fixing. The allegations have been made by Rajasthan Cricket Association's ad hoc committee convenor and Sri Ganganagar MLA Jaideep Bihani. He has raised questions on the team's final over strategy.

IPL 2025: Rajasthan Royals' recent performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 not only disappointed their fans, but now serious allegations have also started being made against the team. After the 2-run defeat against Lucknow Super Giants, Rajasthan Royals has come under the scanner. Doubts are being raised especially about the decisions taken in the last over of the match.

This whole matter has been fueled by Jaideep Bihani, convener of the ad hoc committee of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and MLA from Sriganganagar. He has directly accused Rajasthan Royals of match fixing and raised serious questions on the team's strategy and approach of the last over.

What was the matter?

Rajasthan Royals needed 9 runs in the last over of the match against Lucknow Super Giants. Dhruv Jurel was on strike and dangerous finishers like Shimron Hetmyer were present at the non-striker end. Despite this, only 6 runs were scored in that over of Avesh Khan and Rajasthan Royals lost the match by 2 runs.

This defeat not only worsened the team's position in the points table, but now questions are being raised on the credibility of the team.

Statement of Jaideep Bihani

Jaideep Bihani said in a conversation with a local news channel:

"When the ad hoc committee formed by the state government has no authority in matters related to IPL, then what is the use of it? There is no control over the Rajasthan Royals team and in such a situation, if the team is getting involved in suspicious activities, then who will be held accountable?"

Bihani also alleged that as soon as IPL comes, the control of the Zilla Parishad increases, and the sports bodies of the state are marginalized.

Has raised voice earlier too

This is not the first time that Jaideep Bihani has raised questions on the functioning of Rajasthan Royals. Earlier also, he has raised his voice against keeping the state association away from IPL matters. He says that the Rajasthan team should play with complete transparency and accountability, because it represents the state.

Rajasthan Royals' falling reputation

Rajasthan Royals have played 8 matches in the tournament so far, out of which they have won only 2 and lost 6 times. The team is currently at the eighth position in the points table, which is a matter of concern for them.

What should be the next action?

Serious allegations like match fixing cannot be taken lightly. If there is any factual basis in the allegations made by Jaideep Bihani, then BCCI and Anti-Corruption Unit should investigate the matter impartially.

Rajasthan Royals management will also have to come forward and clarify its position and if there has been any strategic lapse, then it should accept it and take responsibility to avoid such decisions in future.
