Relief news has come out for medical students facing crisis due to Russia-Ukraine war. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a circular informing that students coming back from Ukraine can now complete their one-year internship in India itself. For this, things are not under control during the time of corona epidemic or war. NMC has also released this circular on its official website. For more information, students can read it by visiting nmc.org.in.Hundreds of students will get reliefThe NMC has reported that many medical graduate students have not been able to complete their internships due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Considering the difficulties faced by these students, their applications for internship in India will be considered eligible. This will bring relief to hundreds of students who have come back to India after leaving their courses incomplete due to this crisis.Must pass FMGE examThe NMC further informed that the State Council will take care that the students who have come to India from Ukraine have cleared the FMGE exam conducted by NBE. If the students fulfill all the eligibility criteria, they will be granted interim registration by the State Medical Council for a 12-month internship. The NMC further informed that the State Councils will also take care that the college does not charge any fee from the students for completing the internship. It has been told in the circular that the stipend given to foreign medical graduates will also be equal to medical students of government colleges in India.Know about FMGE ExamThe full form of FMGE exam is Foreign Medical Graduates Examination. It is organized by NBE (National Examination Board). The exam is conducted twice every year in the month of June and December. All the students who study medicine from a foreign college, it is mandatory for them to pass this exam for higher education and medicine (practicing) in India. To be successful in the exam, students have to secure a minimum of 50% marks. After this, permanent registration is provided to the students.The government had requested to take measuresRecently, the Central Government has issued the FMGL (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Act to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Medical Commission (NMC) and NITI Aayog (NITI Aayog) regarding the internship of medical students who returned from Ukraine after leaving their studies incomplete.
