Dehradun to Mumbai Airlift

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) airlifted Pant to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday. Pant will now be under the supervision of Dinshaw Pardiwala in the hospital who will continue to treat his ligament injury. Information about this has also been given in the statement issued by BCCI Secretary Jai Shah.

Brought to Mumbai for this reason

A report by Inside Sport, quoting a BCCI official, said that Pant was airlifted to Mumbai to save him from too much attention. In the report, the official said, 'Rishabh has been brought to Mumbai to save him from too much attention. He needs rest at the moment and this was not possible in Dehradun. Here he will be under tight security and only family members can meet him. As soon as he recovers from the injury, the doctors will take a decision on his ligament injury.

Pant will be out of the field for 9 months

Rishabh Pant can be out of the field for about 9 months after surgery. He will soon be sent to London. However, it is not yet clear when his surgery is to be done. Some reports had claimed that Pant's surgery would be conducted under Dr. Pardiwala in Mumbai but InsideSport has said that the BCCI does not want to take any risk on his return in view of the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in October. It is believed that Pant will return closer to the World Cup.

Pant to go to London for surgery?

The official further said, 'The doctors feel that he is fit to travel. He will be sent to London for surgery. We still do not know how long it will take for Pant to be match fit. Once the swelling subsides, Dr. Pardiwala and his team will decide on further treatment. As of now, Rishabh will need surgery on both his knee and ankle. He may be out for 9 months due to surgery.
