Cricket / Riyan Parag role for Rajasthan Royals may change in IPL 2023 Kumar Sangakkara hints

After their loss against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 final match, Sangakkara said, "I think Riyan Parag has a lot of potential, and I think we can think of sending him up the batting order." We can think of working on it before next season. I will try and prepare for him by sending him up the middle order and not just use him for hitting in the death overs.

Indian Premier League 2022 was nothing special for Riyan Parag, where he failed to do wonders with the bat on the field, while he remained on the target of fans for some of his antics. Whether it was a fight with Harshal Patel in the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore or his reaction to the third umpire's decision regarding the catch, he was trolled fiercely by the fans for all these things. Apart from this, he was in the news for unwanted things like staring at Rajasthan Royals senior player R Ashwin and shouting at young cricketer Devdutt Padikkal. Rajasthan Royals Director of Cricket and Head Coach Kumar Sangakkara has indicated that Riyan's role may look a bit different for Rajasthan Royals next season.

Riyan Parag played a total of 17 matches in IPL 2022 and scored just 183 runs at an average of 16.64 and strike rate of 138.63. Only one fifty came out of Ryan's bat this season. This was the first time after IPL 2008 that Rajasthan Royals reached the final.
