Asia Cup 2023: Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India defeated Nepal in the crucial match of the Asia Cup and entered the Super 4. Earlier, the match played against Pakistan could not be completed due to rain and gave one point to both the teams. The Indian team not only registered the victory, but also left Nepal craving for a wicket. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill came to open and were not out till the end. Now Rohit Sharma has become the only captain of Team India, who has won by 10 wickets in ODI twice.

Rohit Sharma defeated Nepal by ten wickets

Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Nepal team played well and scored a total of 230 runs during their innings. After this, the opening batsmen of Team India, who came to chase this target, scored the required 231 runs and won the match by ten wickets. Although this is the ninth time so far that the Indian team has defeated the opposition team by ten wickets in ODI, but Rohit Sharma has become the first captain to achieve such a feat twice. Before this, any captain who had won by ten wickets could not succeed in achieving this feat for the second time.

Earlier, Team India had defeated England by ten wickets in July 2022. In this match, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc on the English batsmen and sent six batsmen to the pavilion for 19 runs. England batted first and scored 110 runs in 25.2 overs and after this Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan achieved this target without any loss. Rohit Sharma scored 76 runs on 58 balls and Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs on 54 balls. This match was played at The Oval ground in England.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill registered big wins

Talking about the match between India and Nepal, while on one hand Rohit Sharma played a strong inning of 74 runs on 59 balls, which included six fours and five sixes, on the other hand Shubman Gill scored 67 runs on 62 balls. This included eight fours and one six. In this match which was interrupted due to rain, Team India had to achieve the target in 23 overs, but the required runs were scored in 20.1 overs only.
