India-Russia News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. There was a telephonic conversation between the two leaders. In the conversation, the Russian leader informed PM Modi about his inability to attend the G-20 summit to be held in New Delhi next month. President Putin congratulated Prime Minister Modi on India's successful Moon mission during the telephone call.The Russian President said that Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The PM's office gave this information in a statement. According to the statement, during the talks, the two leaders reviewed progress on several issues of bilateral cooperation as well as exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern, including the recently concluded BRICS Summit in Johannesburg.According to the Prime Minister's Office, during the telephonic conversation, President Putin expressed his inability to attend the G-20 Summit to be held in New Delhi on September 9-10 and informed the Prime Minister that Russia would be represented at the meeting by the Foreign Minister. Sergey Lavrov will do. Respecting Russia's decision, PM Modi thanked President Putin for Russia's continued support in all initiatives under India's G-20 chairmanship. According to the PMO, both the leaders agreed to remain in touch.
