Delhi Pollution: The Central Government has removed the restrictions imposed under the fourth phase of the Gradual Response Action Plan (GRAP) after the improvement in air quality in Delhi-NCR. However, the restrictions of GRAP-3 will continue. After the removal of restrictions of GRAP-4, now along with the commencement of construction work of public projects in Delhi-NCR, the ban on entry of trucks and four-wheeler commercial vehicles will be removed.

In the fourth phase of GRP, only essential vehicles were allowed to enter Delhi while the entry of all other medium and trucks was banned. The pollution control body has said that the restrictions imposed under GRP one, two and three will continue as before. In such a situation, all other restrictions including non-essential construction work, mining, stone breaking, diesel generators will continue.

In fact, there has been improvement in the average air quality index (AQI) of Delhi. Delhi AQI was 319 at 4 pm on Saturday which was 405 on Friday. At the same time, the air quality in Noida (265), Ghaziabad (276), Greater Noida (228) and Faridabad has been recorded in the very poor to severe category (309).

All schools will open from 20th November

After the improvement in the air quality of the capital, the Directorate of Education of Delhi Government has issued an order to open all the government and private schools of Delhi from class 1st to 12th from Monday. According to the order, all schools in Delhi will open from November 20.

Schools were closed since November 9

It has been said in the order that at present the AQI is below 450, there is no possibility of further decline in air quality, hence schools should be reopened for students of all classes from 20th. Due to increasing pollution in Delhi and implementation of GRAP-4, all schools were closed under winter break from 9 November to 18 November.
