West Bengal | BCCI President Sourav Ganguly on Saturday said that he is very close to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Ganguly's statement came just a day after a dinner party with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. After this statement of Ganguly, political experts are of the opinion that Ganguly's talk with Shah could not be done, that is why he has turned back to Mamta didi. Mamta Banerjee is considered a strong opponent of BJP. Sources reveal that with the help of Ganguly, BJP was in the mood to conquer Mamta's fort in Bengal, but Dada's inswing has made BJP bold. But the turn is yet to change as Ganguly has not decided to go to any party yet.Actually, Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, known as the Prince of Kolkata, was also famous for his impetuosity in the field. But after the developments on Friday and Saturday, Dada proved that he is no match for him even off the field. On Friday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was invited for dinner at his residence. Photos of Ganguly and Shah's dinner party were also revealed. After the closeness of both, things started coming to the fore in the political circles that Ganguly might soon join the BJP. But the very next day he reversed saying that he is very close to Mamta didi. Ganguly also said that he has family relations with Firhad Hakim, a minister in the Mamta government. He has known Hakim since he was studying in class one.It is believed that there was a meeting between Dada and Shah, dinner was also held but things did not work out. In such a situation, Ganguly has now turned towards Mamta didi. Mamta Banerjee is considered a staunch opponent of the BJP government at the Centre. In such a situation, it is not an easy thing to praise Mamata Banerjee the very next day after having dinner with Shah. What did Ganguly say?Among those who attended the dinner party at Sourav Ganguly's house were Union Minister Amit Shah along with Swapan Dasgupta, state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari. Dismissing speculations of joining BJP, Sourav said that he has known Amit Shah since 2008. "I used to meet him while playing. There is nothing more than that," he said. There was speculation even before Bengal electionsIn fact, even before the West Bengal Assembly elections, there were reports in the political circles that Sourav Ganguly might join BJP. Not only this, according to party sources, BJP wanted to add Ganguly as the CM face of the state. But at that time, Ganguly was engrossed in recovery after a minor heart attack and the air of joining the BJP had vanished.
