If reports are to be believed, the weather in Southampton may remain normal on the second day. It rained all day in Southampton on Friday. There was some time after the second session when the rain stopped and the match was likely to start. But as the ground was too wet, it was decided to cancel the first game without bowling the ball. On the second day however, the toss will take place at 2.30 pm, while the match will start at 3 pm.

Match will go on reserve day

The ICC, however, had already decided to have a reserve day in view of Southampton's weather. The game which was ruined on the first day will be tried to make up in the next four days. The part which will not be covered even in four days will be played during the reserve day.

The ICC has informed that in the next four days, efforts will be made to get the game of 98 overs instead of 90 per day. Then the reserve day will be used for the overs that are left. In the event of no result even on reserve day, the match will be called a draw. In the event of a draw, both India and New Zealand will become the joint winners of the ICC Test Championship.
