A delegation of senators, including Republican leader Mitch McConnell in the US Senate, met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Saturday in an unannounced visit. The Ukrainian president described the visit in his Telegram post as a "strong sign of bipartisan support for Ukraine from the US Congress and the people".In a video address later in the night, Zelensky said, "I believe this visit by US lawmakers reflects the strong relationship between the American people and Ukraine." We discussed stronger cooperation for Ukraine, including defense and finance, as well as further tightening of sanctions against Russia. This visit of the US delegation comes at a time when the Senate is working on approving a package of about $ 40 billion for Ukraine. This is the second visit of a high-level US Congressional delegation to Ukraine in the past several weeks.Earlier, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived in Ukraine on May 1 with a group of Democrat lawmakers. During this, he promised Zelensky that America would stand with him until the war ended.
