Hyderabad: K Chandrashekar Rao has a bit of a demigod stature in Telangana, a state he’s run as the Chief Minister ever since its formation in 2014. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi swears by him for any decision and the reverence he commands reflects in the million ways his party workers and ministers celebrate his birthdays.

In yet another display of extraordinary adulation for KCR, as he is fondly known, Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Wednesday offered a two-and-a-half kilogramme gold saree to Goddess Yellamma on the occasion of the Chief Minister’s birthday.

This is one of many events that were planned throughout the day to celebrate KCR’s 67th birthday.

Barring this, TRS leaders also planned to plant one crore saplings across the state.

Yadav also offered special prayers at Gurudwara Saheb in Ameerpet, and at Sri Ujjaini Mahakali Temple, Ganesh Temple and Wesley Church in Secunderabad.

Kavitha, KCR’s daughter and a Member of Legislative Council, on Wednesday distributed prizes to the winners and runners-up of a state-level volleyball championship.

“We wanted the celebrations of KCR’s birthday in a way that people can connect to it. That is why we have organised state-level volleyball championship… Connecting KCR’s birthday with Volleyball is not only very vibrant but also will boost up the spirits of sportspersons across the state,” she told news agency ANI.
