Cricket Desk: The English cricket team is currently on an India tour playing the ODI series right now. They had earlier played the Test and ODI series here. The visitors failed to win these two series though they made some impact with their performance. In the first match of the 50-over leg, England won the toss and invited the Indian team to bat first. The hosts handed the ODI debut to two players in this game who were Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishna.

With this, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya became the third Indian pair of brothers to feature in an ODI game together. Krunal impressed everyone with his batting on his debut scoring 58 runs in only 31 balls. He smashed 7 fours and 2 sixes in his unbeaten knock. India posted 317/5 in their 50 overs with four players scoring 50 or more runs for them.

Let’s look at the other 2 pair of brothers who played for India in ODIs.

Mohinder Amarnath and Surinder Amarnath played for India together in a total of 3 matches in the ODI format. They both scored one half-century each in these games. Overall, Mohinder Amarnath played for a long time for the Indian team with a career span of over 20 years in international cricket. He was instrumental in helping India win the ODI World Cup 1983.

Amarnath won the player of the match award in both semi-final and the final match of that World Cup. On the other hand, Surinder Amarnath played only 13 games for India across formats. He made his international debut against New Zealand in 1976 and played the last game in 1978 against Pakistan.

Pathan Brothers

Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan were the second pair of brothers to play for India together in the 50-over format. They featured for the national team together in a total of 8 ODIs.
