IND vs PAK: Rain once again interfered in the match between India and Pakistan in Colombo. This fear was being expressed for the last several days and during the match on Sunday, September 10, this fear proved true. In the match of Super-4 round, the Indian team was batting first and during that time the match had to be stopped due to sudden heavy rain. Now its estimates were already there, hence the Asian Cricket Council announced to keep a reserve day only for this match, which is on 11th September. In such a situation, it is important to know what is the condition for reserve day? Will the match be ended today itself?

There was already a forecast of rain at R Premadasa Stadium but the weather was so kind that there was good sunshine since morning and the match could start on time. The Indian team batted first and this time the pair of Rohit Sharma-Shubman Gill gave a strong start by batting aggressively. However, after the first ball of the 25th over, it started raining heavily, due to which the match had to be stopped immediately.

Will the match be completed today?

Due to this apprehension, reserve day was announced but it also has some conditions and it is not that if the match is stopped due to rain, the match will start directly the next day. How will it be decided to play the match on reserve day, when will this decision be taken, some things will have to be kept in mind for this. In fact, according to the rules, the first attempt of the umpires will be to end the match today itself.

To end any match in ODI, it is necessary to play at least 20-20 overs. Team India has batted 24 overs. In such a situation, to end the match today itself, Pakistan will be given a chance to play at least 20 overs and the target will be decided accordingly. If there is not enough time left for 20 overs, then it will be started on the reserve day from the same place where the match was stopped. That means the Indian team will bat again.

Rules for playing on reserve day?

Now if today the situation is not suitable for a 20 over innings then the match will be started directly the next day i.e. on Monday 11th September. That means the Indian team's innings will start with the score of 147 runs for 2 wickets in 24.1 overs. If the weather remains clear then the match will be extended from here and Pakistan will get a chance to play the full 50 overs.

Not only this, if in today's match the overs are cut under the Duckworth-Lewis rule and the match is reduced to 35 or 40 overs, but it starts raining again before the match starts, then the match will be played on the reserve day. Will be reverted to full 50 overs because no ball was bowled after the over was cut.
