Commonwealth Games and Asian Games gold medallist wrestler Bajrang Punia got married to fellow wrestler Sangeeta Phogat on Thursday. The duo took to their social media accounts to share pictures from their wedding. "You complete me...Soulmate for life. A new chapter of life would be full of love and happiness," wrote Sangeeta, who is the daughter of Mahavir Phogat.

Sports Desk: Wrestlers Sangeeta Phogat and Bajrang Punia tied the knot on Thursday. The duo had announced their decision to marry back in 2019.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sangeeta wrote, "You Complete Me. Soulmate for life. A New chapter of Life Would be Full Of love and Happiness." Punia also tweeted pictures from the event.

Taking to Facebook he wrote a post, "Marriage also has a wonderful ritual. Today I have chosen my life partner and brought her to my home from her house. Still feel like I've found another family. Going to start this new chapter of life. I am happy and a little bit restless. It's time to face this exam guys. Thank you for your love and blessings."

Indian Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt congratulated the newlywed couple in a post on Facebook. He wrote, "International wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sangeeta Phogat wish you both a happy marriage and future." 

The pre-wedding festivities had begun for Phogat and Punia on November 22 with the 'baan' ritual. The wedding celebrations began in the Phogat family with shaadi ki pehli rasam--baan ritual. 'Baan' marks the beginning of the first ritual in a wedding, in which women or elders apply haldi ubtan on the bride-to-be.

Her mehendi ceremony took place on November 24, and the bride-to-be posted her henna-clad hands pictures on Instagram. She had shared pictures of the ceremonies on Instagram.

Sangeeta Phogat and Bajrang Punia tied the knot in Balali village in the presence of their families.
