Zelenskyy Resignation: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has made a big statement. He said that if his resignation from the presidency returns peace to Ukraine and the country gets NATO membership, then he is ready for this step. He made this important remark at a government forum held in Kiev on the occasion of completion of three years of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Zelensky made it clear that if doing so brings lasting peace to Ukraine under the security umbrella of the NATO military alliance, then he is ready to step down.

'Will step down for peace'

Responding to a journalist's question whether he could leave his post for peace, Zelensky said, "If you really need me to step down to achieve peace, then I am ready." He further said, "I can leave it for NATO." His remarks appear to point to the suggestions made recently by US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which talked about holding elections in Ukraine. However, due to the imposition of martial law in Ukraine, elections are legally prohibited.

Leaders of Europe and Canada arrive in Kiev

On the occasion of the completion of three years of the Russia-Ukraine war, many leaders from Europe and Canada arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kiev by train on Monday morning. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiha and President's Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak welcomed these foreign leaders at the station. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were also among the visitors. Apart from this, European Council President Antonio Costa and Prime Ministers of several countries of Northern Europe also reached Kiev.

The purpose of the visit of these leaders was to participate in meetings related to the anniversary of the war and to discuss support to Ukraine amid the new policies of America. This visit is considered an important sign of the continued help and support of Western countries for Ukraine.

Future outlook on Ukraine's NATO membership

Ukraine has been trying to get NATO membership for a long time. However, this process remains complicated due to Russia's strong opposition and the ongoing war. Zelensky's statement indicates that he is ready to make any sacrifice for the stability and security of the country.

Now it will be important to see how NATO and Western countries react to this statement and whether Ukraine can get a place in this military alliance in the near future.
