72 ministers took oath along with PM Modi, these are the new Navratnas of the cabinet

Narendra Modi Oath: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday along with 72 ministers of the new coalition government, of which thirty are cabinet ministers, five with independent charge and 36 ministers of state. The portfolios will be announced later. 73-year-old PM Modi became the Prime Minister after a big victory in 2014 after 10 years of UPA rule and then became PM for the second time in 2019 and third time in 2024. In his third term, PM Modi will lead the NDA coalition government. PM Modi is the second Prime Minister to be elected for three consecutive times after the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath of office and secrecy to PM Modi and his 72 ministers at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday. Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah took oath after PM Modi. Nitin Gadkari was the fourth leader. He was followed by JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar and Manohar Lal Khattar.

New Navratnas of Modi Cabinet, know their names

HD Kumaraswamy of Janata Dal (Secular), who took oath after Khattar, was the first leader from any of the BJP's allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to take oath. Soon after, Janata Dal (United) leader Lallan Singh, a close aide of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, also took oath. Sarbananda Sonowal was the first leader from the Northeast to take oath and Kiren Rijiju was the second. Hardeep Singh Puri, a former diplomat who helped India overcome two consecutive oil crises, was among the ministers who took oath.

BJP's prominent Scheduled Caste face and eight-time MP Virendra Kumar was inducted into the Narendra Modi government. He had won the election from Tikamgarh reserved seat in Madhya Pradesh. Supporters of the leaders called on the stage clapped loudly when they saw their leaders walking towards the mic to be sworn in by the President. Jyotiraditya Scindia's induction into the Modi 3.0 council of ministers has strengthened his importance in the BJP, marking the beginning of his second stint in the Union Cabinet since he quit the Congress four years ago.
