It’s time for the Apple WWDC 2024 which starts on June 10 from Cupertino in California with the big live keynote hosted by Apple CEO Tim Cook and his team. Apple WWDC is aimed at the developers with focus on software upgrades and features that can be previewed to the community. And the company is planning for that as its big agenda with the WWDC 2024 this year.
The company will also have an offline event for select developers and students at the Apple Park campus. Previously, it was suggested that Apple TV could get an upgrade at the WWDC 2024 this year but it seems those rumours can be pushed to the side and we can see why Apple might have done that.
Reports claim that Apple is unlikely to bring hardware products to the WWDC 2024 this year. The details shared by Bloomberg hints at Apple purely targeting its new software upgrades that are most likely expected to include the big AI additions.
The company has even shared a cheeky teaser with the tagline Absolutely Incredible, which many perceive to be Apple’s way of talking about AI.
Apple is still playing catch up to OpenAI and Google who have raced ahead with their respective AI launches. ChatGPT 4o is now offering AI to AI conversations and ability to read through a phone’s camera. Google is moving gradually and facing its own set of hurdles with the AI-powered Search.
Apple is likely to rely on either of these companies to bring image and text generation tools for iPhones, something that the company might be finding it hard to pull off with its on-device AI architecture. It is interesting to see Apple looking for AI partners but not at all surprising that it could join hands with its rivals to offer AI features to its customers. Apple has been wanting to go in a different direction with its focus on AI tools. We’ll know more about these plans in a few hours from now.
