Apple is bringing the new Passwords app that works across all its devices, including the Vision Pro headset and Windows PCs as well but through the iCloud app. The accounts are nicely organised so that you don’t miss out on the important details that you regularly need to login.
The new macOS version is called Sequoia which will be releasing later this year. Macs will get integrated iOS and iPad 18 features.
Continuity offers universal control but the new version promises more features. The new tool called iPhone mirroring works across the Mac and iPhone, and you can get it on the big screen wirelessly.
You can see the home screen, swipe across, or even open apps. This is mirroring like it should be. You can even share a video file to the iPhone and get notifications as well.
Apple says most of the iOS 18 changes are coming to the iPads as well. You get new ways to personalise home screen, and customise icons. Apps design get a big update for the iPads like floating design. Keep favourites within your reach. Easier to access docs in pages and numbers with a distinct look.
And yes, the calculator app is finally coming to the iPad by utilising the screen format. It also has a new feature called Math notes and write out the equations like this.
Now you can just nod to answer or reject calls through AirPods.
The Pro version gets voice isolation for best call quality which is helpful in crowded and loud places. And yes, spatial audio is coming to games in a personalised avatar. NFS will be one of the first games to get the feature.
Apple is also offering a game mode for iPhone users who can get the best performance out of their device by stopping the background tasks and giving you the best latency to work with AirPods and controllers.
Last year we saw Apple allow you share contact cards via tap, and now the company is offering tap to pay cash via the same method on iOS 18. Eager to see how and where this feature rolls out but likely to be exclusive for Apple Pay markets.
Apple realises that people can peek at your content when you hand them over your iPhone. So, the company is introducing the Lock an app feature which basically means you can secure it with another layer of Face ID, Touch ID or even the passcode.
Apple start to talk about iOS 18 with the new customisation options, which allows you to place the apps in a different place or even change the colour tone without losing access to the wallpaper. Apple is also offering new swipe options for more controls.
It seems like iOS 18 is finally catching up on what Android has offered for years. Better late than never.
Apple claims 2000 apps have been developed for the Vision Pro headset in just four months since its debut. VisionOS 2 looks to upgrade the immersive experience with new APIs for developers to integrate and bring its expertise to more in-house apps. Photos will let you share the experience with other members which does look cool.
Apple also confirms Vision Pro is coming to more countries like China, Japan, Australia and France among others in the next few months.
Tim Cook is on the stage to kickstart the Apple WWDC 2024 keynote which could go for more than an hour this evening. He starts the live stream from the top of the Apple Park with the Apple TV+ new lineup.
Apple could use the the WWDC 2024 keynote to confirms its deal with OpenAI. We could see ChatGPT 4o and future versions come to iOS and Mac devices before other platforms, which will be a win-win for both companies. Apple is likely to rely on OpenAI for processing the data for its services on the cloud, which affords the company to channel all its energy on the in-house AI resources.
Apple unveiled the new M4 and M2-powered iPad Pro and Air models earlier this year. Most reviews claim the hardware is top-notch but iPadOS needs an overhaul. We are hopeful that Apple will be taking these points seriously and the iPadOS 18 version to be announced at the WWDC 2024 has enough tools to make the device more functional than before.
These iOS apps might come in a new avatar thanks to the AI integration in iOS 18; auto summarising notifications, quick news summaries, transcribe voice memos, AI-based photo editing, AI-based app suggestions and auto-feed Calendar.
Well, the WWDC 2024 is a developer conference so it’s unlikely that Apple will keep it all on AI as there are some big updates expected. You will be seeing the new non-AI features comes to iOS 18, while how the macOS and iPadOS 18 look to improve on their previous iterations. There will also be a segment for the watchOS, tvOS and more that we can look forward to later this evening.
It’s time for the Apple WWDC 2024 which starts on June 10 from Cupertino in California with the big live keynote hosted by Apple CEO Tim Cook and his team. Apple WWDC is aimed at the developers with focus on software upgrades and features that can be previewed to the community. And the company is planning for that as its big agenda with the WWDC 2024 this year.
The company will also have an offline event for select developers and students at the Apple Park campus. Previously, it was suggested that Apple TV could get an upgrade at the WWDC 2024 this year but it seems those rumours can be pushed to the side and we can see why Apple might have done that.
Reports claim that Apple is unlikely to bring hardware products to the WWDC 2024 this year. The details shared by Bloomberg hints at Apple purely targeting its new software upgrades that are most likely expected to include the big AI additions.
The company has even shared a cheeky teaser with the tagline Absolutely Incredible, which many perceive to be Apple’s way of talking about AI.
Apple is still playing catch up to OpenAI and Google who have raced ahead with their respective AI launches. ChatGPT 4o is now offering AI to AI conversations and ability to read through a phone’s camera. Google is moving gradually and facing its own set of hurdles with the AI-powered Search.
Apple is likely to rely on either of these companies to bring image and text generation tools for iPhones, something that the company might be finding it hard to pull off with its on-device AI architecture. It is interesting to see Apple looking for AI partners but not at all surprising that it could join hands with its rivals to offer AI features to its customers. Apple has been wanting to go in a different direction with its focus on AI tools. We’ll know more about these plans in a few hours from now.
