Russia-Ukraine War / Russia clarified its stand on the ceasefire proposal know what it said

Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia after talks with the US. However, a senior Kremlin official described it as an opportunity to reorganise the Ukrainian army, causing a setback to the agreement. Meanwhile, Trump warned Putin.

Russia-Ukraine War: After the agreement reached with the US, Ukraine is ready for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. But, this initiative suffered a setback when a senior Kremlin (Russian President's Office) official said on Thursday that the 30-day ceasefire proposed by the US and accepted by Ukraine would only benefit Kiev, as it would give the Ukrainian army an opportunity for rest and reorganization. After this statement, doubts have arisen over the agreement being reached on the ceasefire.

Russia's emphasis on long-term solution

Russian President Vladimir Putin's foreign policy adviser Yuri Ushakov said in his statement broadcast on television that this temporary ceasefire proposed by the US would be "only a temporary pause for the Ukrainian army". He stressed that Russia would only accept a solution that is long-term and takes into account Moscow's security concerns and interests. This statement came when there was a phone conversation between White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and Ushakov.

Trump's warning and America's role

Reacting to this development, US President Donald Trump has given a stern warning to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump said in clear words that if Russia now refuses a ceasefire, it could prove to be "catastrophic for Russia". He also announced that US negotiators will soon travel to Moscow for possible ceasefire talks with Russia.

This statement comes at a time when Kiev has agreed to a 30-day ceasefire with Russia in talks with US officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This message and proposal has been sent to Putin by the Trump administration, but so far the Kremlin has not clarified its final stand on it.

Will a ceasefire be possible?

The consensus reached between Ukraine and the US indicates that Western countries are making efforts to reduce the conflict and find a solution through dialogue. However, Russia's response shows that a ceasefire will be possible only when Moscow's security concerns are also properly addressed. In such a situation, it will be important to see what decision the Kremlin takes on this in the coming days and whether any concrete direction emerges for establishing peace between Ukraine and Russia.
