Delhi Police - Campaign against illegal Bangladeshi-Rohingya, documents being checked
Delhi Police: The police have launched a special campaign against Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigrants living illegally in the national capital Delhi. This action is going on in various areas of Delhi, in which Shaheen Bagh area of Kalindi Kunj and Seemapuri area of East Delhi have been specifically targeted. The police is checking the documents in these areas to identify illegal immigrants.32 illegal immigrants identified in preliminary investigationDuring the preliminary investigation in Seemapuri area, the police have identified 32 people who are illegal Bangladeshis. But the shocking thing is that many of these people have Indian identity cards, such as Aadhaar card. According to sources, a large number of illegal immigrants live in slums of areas like Yamuna Bazaar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, Daya Basti, and Sonia Vihar. The presence of Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants in these areas has been a matter of discussion for a long time.Aam Aadmi Party's allegationAam Aadmi Party (AAP) has termed this action of Delhi Police as a political drama, linking it to the upcoming elections. Senior party leader Manish Sisodia said, "BJP has always been doing drama regarding Rohingya and Bangladeshi migrants. They were settled by BJP and now as the elections are near, it has started this drama."AAP also alleged that BJP knows about the presence of migrants beforehand, but is raising this issue for electoral gain.Question of politics vs securityWhile on one hand this action is being taken in view of the threat of national security and illegal migrants, on the other hand, political allegations and counter-allegations have intensified regarding it. BJP has called it a step to ensure security, while the opposition is considering it only an election stunt.Questions on government effortsDespite this action by the police, the question arises as to how did the illegal migrants get documents like Aadhar card. Are there flaws in the administrative processes, or did corruption make it possible? These questions demand deep investigation and action in the future.Way forwardWith this special campaign, the issue of illegal migrants in Delhi has again made headlines. But it will be important to see what the actual impact of this action will be. Will it remain just a political rhetoric, or will it lead to improvements in security and migration management on the ground?Maintaining a balance between national security, administrative transparency and political responsibility in this entire matter will be a big challenge for the government and the concerned agencies.
