Union Budget 2024: The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given many big gifts to Bihar in its very first budget. The most important of these are two new expressways in the state. Work will start on both these expressways of 300 km Patna-Purnia and 386 km Gaya-Buxar-Bhagalpur in patches of 100-100 km within the current financial year itself. About Rs 26000 crore will be spent on this project. This information was given by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in her budget speech. With the announcement in the budget speech, the way has been cleared for the construction of expressways for the first time in the state.With this, it has also become clear that both the expressways will be built before the expressway proposed by the state government. People of Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai, Nalanda, Lakhisarai, Munger, Khagaria, Madhepura and Purnia will benefit from the Patna Purnia Expressway. At the same time, the expressway connecting Buxar, Gaya and Bhagalpur will benefit the people of Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Arwal, Aurangabad, Gaya, Jehanabad, Nawada, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Banka and Bhagalpur.Center's focus on BiharThe Modi government formed with the support of JDU led by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar had made it clear in the swearing-in itself that the central government is going to focus on Bihar this time by making eight MPs from Bihar including Lalan Singh, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Chirag Paswan, Giriraj Singh, Nityanand Rai ministers. While reading her budget speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sita Raman said that work is already going on on the DPR of 521 km Gorakhpur to Siliguri via Kishanganj and 719 km Raxaul-Haldia Expressway.Two expressways in Bharatmala project tooHe told that the project of these two expressways included in the Bharatmala project of the Central Government was prepared a long time ago, but due to some reason the work on it could not start. According to the Finance Minister, the DPR of these two projects has been summoned from the Road Transport Department by taking out the buried files. Efforts are being made to start work on 100-100 km patches of these two expressways in the current financial year itself. According to the Finance Minister, the Central Government is working under Vision 2047. For this, a target has been set to start the construction work of roads rapidly and complete it in a timely manner.These districts will also be connected by the expresswayAccording to the Finance Minister, the Gorakhpur to Siliguri expressway being built under the Bharatmala project will start from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and will end in Siliguri in West Bengal via East Champaran, Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Jamui and Banka districts of Bihar. The big thing is that the Gorakhpur-Panipat expressway will be connected to this expressway. This will provide direct connectivity not only to Bihar but also to Uttar Pradesh and Haryana from West Bengal.
