Regarding the earthquake, the United Nations has said that the number of casualties in the country may increase further, because search and rescue operations are going on. Meanwhile, Disaster Authority spokesperson Mohammad Abdullah Jan has said that four villages in Zenda Jan district of Herat province have been most damaged by the earthquake.The Geological Survey said the epicenter of the earthquake was about 40 kilometers northwest of Herat city. After the earthquake, there were three strong aftershocks, whose intensity was 6.3, 5.9 and 5.5. After these tremors, light tremors were also felt.
