Petrol-Diesel Price: The Goa government has announced to increase the value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel from today. Under Secretary (Finance) in the state government Pranab G Bhatt issued a notification of this increase on Friday. He said that from Saturday petrol will become costlier by one rupee and diesel by 36 paise. The official said, "The increase in VAT means that the price of petrol and diesel will increase by one rupee and 36 paise respectively. The current price of petrol in Goa is Rs 95.40 per liter. While diesel is Rs 87.90 per liter. "Congress criticized the decisionThe leaders of the opposition Congress party have criticized the increase in VAT by the Goa government. Senior state leader Yuri Alemao called it an insensitive government's decision. He has demanded the withdrawal of this decision.Earlier prices increased in KarnatakaEarlier petrol and diesel had become expensive in Karnataka. The Congress Siddaramaiah government in Karnataka had decided to increase the price of petrol by Rs 3 and diesel by about Rs 3.05 per liter. This increase was done after the revision of sales tax. Due to this, the price of petrol in the state has increased by Rs 3 from Rs 99.84 to Rs 102.84 per liter. The price of diesel has increased by Rs 3.02 from Rs 85.93 to Rs 88.95 per liter. The Petroleum Dealers Association has blamed the revised sales tax for this increase. This tax has increased from 25.92% to 29.84% for petrol and from 14.3% to 18.4% for diesel.
