Land Scam - Will Lalu and Tejashwi get relief or will their problems increase? Decision today

Land Scam: Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court may pronounce an important verdict in the Land for Job case today. This decision will be on the supplementary chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and eight others. The court will decide whether to take cognizance of this chargesheet or not.

Filing of supplementary chargesheet

The ED had filed a supplementary chargesheet in the case on August 6. After this, Special Judge Vishal Gogne reserved the decision on sending summons to the accused. After hearing the arguments of the ED, the court reserved the order to decide on the prosecution's complaint (ED chargesheet).

Controversy over Railway Group D appointments

The ED informed the court that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute the accused. The root of the matter is related to the Railway Group D appointments, which took place when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister. The ED carried forward its investigation on the basis of the FIR lodged by the CBI. The ED alleges that in exchange for these appointments, plots were gifted or transferred to Lalu Prasad Yadav's family or associates.

Lalu Prasad Yadav's tenure and controversy

This case dates back to the time when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister between 2004 and 2009. In exchange for the appointments made at that time, land was allegedly given in the name of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo's family. Today's decision of the court in this case is being considered important from many points of view.
