India Lockdown / 68 PC Delhi Residents Say Yes To Extending Lockdown Curfew By One Week says Survey

New Delhi: To stop the spread of Corona, the Kejriwal government in Delhi last week extended the lockdown running for 1 month till the morning of May 24. Now according to the local circle survey, 68 percent people are in favor of increasing the lockdown for at least a week. In view of the latest situation in Corona, about 9,000 residents of all the 11 districts of Delhi gave their responses. Of these, 69 percent were men while 31 percent were women. Earlier, during the lockdown that ended on May 17, 74 percent of the people in the survey had demanded the ban be extended.

Responding to the latest survey, 10% of the people said that the lockdown should be extended for three weeks. While 26 per cent of the residents are in favor of increasing the lockdown for 2 weeks and 32 per cent for 1 week. However, only 10 percent of the people also said that the lockdown / curfew should be completely abolished and all restrictions should be lifted. 22 per cent of voters said to remove the entire lockdown and impose only the night and weekend curfew.

Positive effect of lockdown

Lockdown has been started in the capital Delhi since 18 April. Within these five weeks, the number of daily cases of corona infection in Delhi has come down from 26 thousand to 3-6 thousand. The positivity rate also fell from 36 per cent to 5-7 per cent. The availability of ICUs and ventilator beds in both government and private hospitals has also increased due to the increase in the recovery rate. However, the number of deaths from Kovid in Delhi is still in the range of 200-300 daily.

Lowest 3009 new cases since 1 April

There have been 3,009 new cases of Kovid in Delhi in the last 24 hours, the lowest since April 1, when 2790 new Kovid infections were recorded in a single day. The Rozan test positivity rate fell below 5 percent (4.76 percent) on Friday. This is the first time since April 4 that the national capital's Kovid positivity rate has come down to 5 percent. So far, 14,12,959 Kovid cases have been registered in Delhi and 22,831 deaths since the outbreak in early 2020.
