Sikkim Road Accident / Accident in Sikkim, army truck fell into the ditch; 16 soldiers including 3 JCOs martyred

An army vehicle met with a major accident in Sikkim on Friday. In the painful accident, 16 soldiers including 3 JCOs of the army have been martyred. The incident took place at Jema in North Sikkim. The accident vehicle was part of a convoy of three vehicles. The convoy had moved from Chatten towards Thangu in the morning. The vehicle skidded down a steep slope at a sharp turn on its way to Jemaa.

The incident took place at Jema in North Sikkim. The accident vehicle was part of a convoy of three vehicles. The convoy had moved from Chatten towards Thangu in the morning. The vehicle skidded down a steep slope at a sharp turn on its way to Jemaa. Three Junior Commissioned Officers and 13 jawans succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.

According to the army, the truck fell into a deep gorge while taking a sharp turn. "16 brave soldiers of the Indian Army lost their lives when an Army truck met with an accident on December 23 at Gema in North Sikkim," the Army said.

Rescue operations were launched immediately after the accident and four injured soldiers are being airlifted.
