Asia Cup 2023: Asia Cup 2023 is to be organized in Pakistan and Sri Lanka this year. All the teams are preparing fiercely for this tournament. The first match of the tournament will be played on 30 August. Now the Afghanistan team has also announced its squad for the Asia Cup. Now only the name of the Sri Lankan team is yet to be revealed. Apart from Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Nepal had already announced their squads.

All-rounder Karim Janat on Sunday returned to Afghanistan's ODI squad after a gap of six years as the selectors also included experienced left-handed batsman Najibullah Zadran in the 17-man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup. Hashmatullah Shahidi, a strong left-handed batsman and known to open the innings, will lead his team in the Asia Cup to be played from August 30 to September 17.

This player is out due to injury

Mohammad Saleem Safi and Abdul Rehman, the two pacers who were part of Afghanistan's recent home ODI series against Pakistan, have retained their places in the squad, but Fareed Ahmed and Wafdar Momand have been dropped. Seam-bowling all-rounder Azmatullah Umarzai has been ruled out of the squad selected for the tournament due to a side strain. Gulbadin Naib and Janat have been included in the squad as backup all-rounders. Left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Sharafuddin Ashraf has also been included as a reserve spinner.

Zadran, who missed the recently concluded Pakistan series due to a knee injury, has been included in the squad and is expected to recover before the start of the tournament. Shahidullah Kamal, who replaced him in the series against Pakistan, has been dropped from the Asia Cup squad.
